Description

The Columbia (SC) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated invites you to our 85th Anniversary Black Tie Gala on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 7:00 PM – 11:00 PM at the Columbia Convention Center, 1101 Lincoln Street, Columbia, SC.

The evening will feature distinguished guests, entertainment, fine dining, and dancing as we honor our charter member and first president, Lt. Colonel Charity Adams Earley. Soror Earley’s life and legacy were recently depicted in the film 6888, produced by Tyler Perry and starring Kerry Washington. Our celebration will share her story as it began with our chapter, long before her historic military service.

We would be honored by your presence.

Sincerely,
Arlene Prince, President
Doris Cochran, General Chair
Doris G. Greene, Gala Chair

Carmen P. Banks, Gala Co-Chair

On January 13, 1913, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated was founded by 22 women on the campus of Howard University. There are many collegiate and alumnae chapters around the globe. Columbia (SC) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated was chartered in 1940 as Beta Beta, Sigma. In 1958 Grand Chapter decided that Graduate Chapters no longer be identified by Greek letters. Beta Beta Sigma became Columbia (SC) Alumnae Chapter. Through the years, the Columbia (SC) Alumnae Chapter has joined other chapters in its public service program of economic development, educational development, international awareness and involvement, physical and mental health and political awareness and involvement/social action. The Columbia (SC) Alumnae chapter is 500+ members strong and continues to provide public service through the metro Columbia area. Special local projects have included Black heritage seminars, career fairs, volunteer services at hospitals and homes for the elderly, tutorial reading programs, financial literacy seminars, debate programs and more.
